Our recruitment process
When recruiting a new employee to join our team we generally advertise a vacant position on asqa.gov.au, apsjobs.gov.au, seek.com.au and/or LinkedIn. Our selection panel will then invite shortlisted applicants to attend an interview before deciding on the preferred candidate.
What to expect at an ASQA job interview
- Your interview will typically be with a panel of two to three people.
- The panel will include the person who will be the successful candidate's manager.
- While all panellists will try to attend in person, some may need to participate via videoconference.
- You will be able to request any reasonable adjustments (such as access to interpreters or other specific requirements), if required.
- Depending on the type of role, we may ask you to provide examples of past work or to do a practical skills test.
Interviews may vary according to the requirements of a particular role, and the needs of individual candidates.
Reasonable adjustments
Candidates may request reasonable adjustments to support them through any stage of the recruitment process and help them plan for a career at ASQA.
The Equal Opportunity Act 2010 requires us to make reasonable adjustments for a person who:
- applies for a job, is offered employment, or is an employee
- requires adjustments to participate in the recruitment process or perform the genuine and reasonable requirements of the job.
If you require a reasonable adjustment at any point, please contact peopleandcapability@asqa.gov.au.
Guidelines for use of AI in recruitment processes
How we use AI in recruitment
Selection panels may use basic artificial intelligence (AI) tools to assist with administrative tasks during the recruitment process. This may include, for example, summarising information or drafting or refining documentation. We use AI to help us work more efficiently, but we do not use AI to make assessment and selection decisions about candidates.
What we expect from candidates
As AI tools and technologies become more accessible and widely used, we understand candidates may use AI tools when participating in a recruitment process. Candidates are expected to familiarise themselves with the Australian Public Service Commission’s Principles for candidate use of AI in recruitment, which sets out the expectations that APS agencies have regarding the use of AI in recruitment when applying for roles.
